Home › Retreats › 10 Day Ayurvedic Wellness & Yoga Retreat in Kathmandu, Nepal
Kathmandu · 10 days · From USD 733
The retreat is built around the principle that health comes from balancing the body, mind, and heart, and the schedule reflects that. Your first day starts with a consultation with the resident Ayurvedic doctor, who determines your prakriti (your natural body type) and prescribes a therapy plan. From day two, you'll follow a daily rhythm of yoga asana, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and mantra chanting, with the intensity and style adapted to your level and your dosha.
The Ayurvedic treatments are the heart of the experience. You'll receive massages (head, neck, foot, body, and therapeutic massage with reflexology), steam baths, and inhalations, all hands-on and guided by an expert therapist according to the doctor's instructions. There are also theory classes where you'll learn about the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, ether) and how to balance anger, emotions, lethargy, nerves, and thoughts. The idea is that you leave not just feeling better, but understanding why.
The teaching team includes Ram, who holds an MA in yoga and an International Yoga Alliance certification in Ashtanga/Vinyasa, and Tirtha, a Yoga Alliance certified Hatha and Ashtanga teacher with five years of experience. They're described in guest reviews as sharing useful techniques you can practice at home. The retreat is also a school, so you may encounter trainees, which adds to the learning atmosphere.
What makes this place different is the balance of proper Ayurvedic treatment and a genuinely welcoming, home-like environment. It's run by a spiritual family who are deeply invested in the wellbeing of their guests. You're not just another booking; you're a guest in their home. The location, in the lap of Nagarjun Jungle, is peaceful and green, a world away from the chaos of Kathmandu city, and it's a short drive to the airport and local markets when you need a change of scenery.
