Home › Retreats › 10-Day Serenity and Yoga Escape in the Maldives
Maldives · 10 days · From USD 1508
The retreat runs over ten days, which is longer than the typical week-long yoga holiday. That extra time is what lets the chakra theme unfold properly—there's a whole day for each of the seven chakras, plus an arrival day, a day that brings all the chakras together, and a departure day. Each morning starts with an energising flow on the beach or on the retreat house terrace, timed to catch the sunrise. Evenings wind down with restorative and yin yoga, and the rest of the day is yours to fill with beach time, a spa treatment, a group excursion, or nothing at all.
Kamadhoo is a small, local island in Baa Atoll, not a built-up resort island. That's the point. The accommodation is the Kamadhoo Inn—simple, clean guesthouse rooms with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning and balconies facing the ocean. The local restaurant serves Maldivian food: fresh tuna, snapper, curries, rice, and tropical fruit. There's a house reef right off the beach where you can snorkel with turtles, and the group excursion on day four usually involves a boat trip to see manta rays or whale sharks, depending on the season.
Ari Liakeas has been running retreats for over 20 years, and she brings a background in bodywork, yoga, and dance to the week. She's based in Scotland and Greece, and her company, Stellar Therapies, has led retreats in the Cayman Islands, Albania, Costa Rica and Mexico. She teaches Hatha, Yin and Restorative yoga, and she also works as a massage therapist—the included one-hour treatment is a chance to experience her hands-on work directly.
The retreat is limited to 20 spots, but the group size usually sits between 4 and 12 participants, which keeps classes personal. Guests come solo, as couples, or with friends, and there's a strong sense of community by the end of the week. The focus is genuinely on rest and reconnect—there's no digital detox enforced, but Phones tend to stay in pockets once you're on the sand. The schedule is not mandatory, so you can skip a class and just lie on the beach if that's what your body asks for.
