Home › Retreats › 100-Hour Hatha & Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh
Rishikesh · 12 days · From USD 465
The training is structured to give you a complete teaching toolkit over 12 days. Each morning starts with asana practice and pranayama, usually a Hatha session, followed by a class on teaching methodology. Later in the day, you'll study yoga philosophy and anatomy, and the afternoon brings an Ashtanga and Vinyasa class. Evenings end with meditation and self-study time. The syllabus splits into two weeks: the first week introduces philosophy, foundational poses, alignment, basic pranayama, meditation, anatomy, sequencing, and Sanskrit. The second week pushes into advanced asanas, yogic cleansing techniques (kriyas), Yoga Nidra, Ayurveda, teaching practicum, and business basics for teachers. By the end you'll have taught real classes and had feedback from the teachers.
What makes this one different from a weekend retreat or a generic TTC is the setting and the teaching depth. The school, Upasana Yogshala, is run by a small team of locally trained teachers with decades of combined experience. Rajesh Ji, the founder, focuses on Ashtanga Vinyasa and alignment. Kalpendra Chauhan Ji brings 16 years of teaching in pranayama, meditation, and Yoga Nidra, with an ERYT-500 certification. Ravi Bisht teaches Hatha with a strong Iyengar influence, and Shubham Uniyal covers classical Hatha, philosophy, and anatomy. You're not getting one teacher's take on yoga; you're getting a range of approaches and traditions.
The location itself is a big part of the experience. Rishikesh is a pilgrimage town, vegetarian-only and alcohol-free, so you're steeped in the culture of yoga everywhere you go. The shala is close to the Ganges, with views of the Himalayas, and the town's temples and ashrams are part of the curriculum – Sunday excursions take you to Triveni Ghat, Kunjapuri Devi Temple, Parmarth Niketan Ashram, and the nearest waterfall. This isn't a retreat where you're sequestered in a resort; it's a working yoga school in the middle of a town that lives and breathes the practice.
