100-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Retreat in Rishikesh, India

Rishikesh · 11 days · From USD 800

This 100-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Moola Yoga is an 11-day residential intensive based on the traditional Ashtanga system of Sage Patanjali. The asana work draws mainly from the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series and traditional Hatha Yoga, with the addition of Vinyasa Krama sequencing. It's designed as a foundation — a stepping stone toward the full 200-hour certification, or a standalone deep dive if you're not ready to commit to three weeks.

A typical day includes a morning asana session, a mid-morning philosophy or anatomy lecture, lunch, then afternoon pranayama and meditation, followed by teaching methodology or practicum. You'll work through the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita, explore the eight limbs of yoga, and practice breathing techniques like Anulom Vilom, Kapalabhati, and Bhastrika. Yoga Nidra, mindfulness, and mantra meditation are all part of the daily rhythm.

The teaching team is what makes this school stand out. Aayush Sharma studied Ashtanga in Mysore and has lived in Rishikesh for years; Rebecca Wood trained in Nepal and specializes in Hatha, Vinyasa, and breathwork; Himanshu brings 16 years of practice and Ayurvedic knowledge; and Dr. Harsh teaches Ayurvedic principles with over a decade of clinical experience. Together they keep the teaching grounded in tradition rather than trend.

The location itself is a teacher. Moola Yoga sits in the foothills of the Himalayas, a short walk from the Ganga. The rooftop shala has mountain views, and the dining hall looks out over the same peaks. Rishikesh is a conservative, spiritual town — no meat, no alcohol, no shoes in the ashrams — and that atmosphere seeps into the course. It's hard to stay distracted when the entire town is oriented toward practice.

The course ends with a certificate upon successful completion, valid for continuing education with Yoga Alliance. You'll leave with a gift package of locally sourced artisan items, a Moola t-shirt, and the skills — and confidence — to lead your own classes. Many students come back to complete their remaining 100 hours and graduate as full 200-hour teachers.
