12-Day Ashtanga & Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills

Adhiroha is a working ashram about a kilometer uphill from the main market of Tapovan, Rishikesh. The property is built into the hillside, surrounded by forest, with mountain springs and a waterfall nearby. Rooms look out over the valley, and monkeys are regular visitors to the practice spaces. It's a place that feels a long way from the noise of Rishikesh, but you're still close enough to walk into town in your free time.

The training covers the Ashtanga Primary Series in full, with a focus on alignment and breath-synchronized movement. Each day includes a led practice, time for self-practice, and sessions on yoga philosophy, anatomy, and safe hands-on adjustments. You'll also learn how to structure and cue a vinyasa flow class, and you'll get chances to practice teaching with feedback from the instructors. The course is registered with Yoga Alliance, and you'll receive a certificate on completion.

The teaching team is led by Shankar Das, who founded Adhiroha with the aim of combining traditional ashram life with a professional training environment. Students consistently mention the depth of the teachers' knowledge and how approachable they are. There are also longer trainings available—300-hour and 500-hour—so you can continue here if you want to go further.
