Rishikesh · 12 days · From USD 790
This 12-day teacher training at Adhiroha is a focused alternative to the broader, more scattered 200-hour programs you often see. Instead of cramming in every style of yoga, it spends all its time on Hatha and Yin—two approaches that balance each other well. You'll spend hours on strength-building Hatha asanas, making sure your alignment is precise and your transitions are mindful. Then you'll shift into Yin Yoga, holding poses for minutes at a time to work on stillness, flexibility, and inner awareness.
The curriculum is divided into four main areas: Hatha asana practice, Yin yoga practice, philosophy and anatomy, and teaching methodology. By the end of the two weeks, you'll have led practice classes and gotten feedback from your teachers. The program is registered with Yoga Alliance, so your certification carries weight wherever you go next.
What makes this course different from other teacher trainings in the area is how much the teachers stick around. Several guests who wrote in noted that the instructors were exceptionally knowledgeable and kind—they weren't just delivering a curriculum, they were engaging with students. One traveler who did both 200 and 300 hours with Adhiroha said that her smaller group of five people for the 300-hour course allowed for more in-depth conversations and more chances to teach.
The location is another big draw. The ashram is designed to feel intentional—spaces for yoga, meditation, lectures, and dining are spread out through the forested property. It's about a 20-minute walk down to the main market in Tapovan if you want to explore on your day off, and the weekend break gives you a chance to visit local sights or just rest. The founder, Shankar Das, describes the ashram as a blend of a spiritual retreat and a professional training institute, and that balance is what most guests seem to appreciate.
