Nepal · 12 days · From USD 1191
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of Nepal's classic routes, and this version adds daily yoga to the mix. Each day typically starts with tea and an hour-long yoga session before breakfast, then four to seven hours of walking depending on the stage. Evenings include gentler stretching and relaxation practice, which makes sense given the physical demands of the trail.
The walking itself covers varied terrain: steep stone steps up to Ulleri, dense bamboo forests between Dovan and base camp, and open alpine scenery as you approach the sanctuary. Villages along the way — Ghorepani, Chhomrong, Tadapani — offer teahouse accommodation where you'll sleep, eat dal bhat, and dry out your boots. The highest point is Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres, where you'll spend one night surrounded by an amphitheatre of snow-capped peaks.
The guide, Jay, trained at Nepal's Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management and doubles as the yoga instructor. He knows the local trails and handles logistics while leading the daily practice. Sessions draw on Hatha, Ashtanga, and Kriya traditions, with Vipassana-style meditation and breathwork included. The style adapts to what the group needs after each day's walk.
Meals are vegetarian and locally sourced — expect Nepali staples like dal bhat, momos, and plenty of hot tea. Accommodation quality varies with altitude: a more comfortable hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara, basic but clean teahouses on the trail. The private room option gives you the best available attached room at each stop.
The highlight for most people is the Poon Hill sunrise on Day 5, with panoramic views of both the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, and the base camp sunrise on Day 9, when you're standing at the foot of Annapurna I. These are genuine bucket-list mountain moments, and the yoga sessions either side help you arrive rested enough to appreciate them.
