12-Day Traditional Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh: 100-Hour Hatha, Ashtanga & Vinyasa Immersion

Rishikesh · 12 days · From USD 688

The curriculum is dense and real. Over nine full teaching days, you'll cover Hatha Yoga, Mysore-style Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Pranayama, Mudras, Bandhas, Shatkarma (yogic cleansing), Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Mantra Chanting, Yoga History & Philosophy, Anatomy, Alignment & Adjustment, and Ayurveda. Each style gets its own dedicated sessions — you're not just doing the same flow every morning. Hatha focuses on alignment, sequencing, and using props; Ashtanga takes you through the Primary Series step by step; Vinyasa links breath to movement in dynamic sequences.

What makes this different from a standard retreat is the structure. There's a real timetable every day — you wake at 5:30, practice 6:00–7:30, pranayama 7:40–8:40, then breakfast. Mornings are for anatomy and alignment, afternoons for philosophy, and evenings for Hatha workshops and meditation. It's a serious course, but the group sizes are kept small so everyone gets individual attention and adjustments.

The teachers come from strong traditional backgrounds. Yogi Arvind Negi, the lead teacher, grew up in Rishikesh and stresses the Yamas and Niyamas as essential practice, not just theory. Naveen Bisht, who's been teaching Ashtanga and Vinyasa here for five years, studied under respected teachers across India and brings a mix of traditional and modern approaches. Dr. Upendra, raised in a Brahmin family and trained at the Bihar School of Yoga and Sivananda Ashram, runs the Pranayama and Yoga Nidra sessions. Atharva Deo, initiated into the Yajurveda at age ten, handles mantra chanting and Vedic astrology. Bhagya Shree teaches philosophy with a Master's in Hindu Studies, and Yogesh, who holds a Master's in Yoga Science and Therapy, covers anatomy.

Rishikesh itself is part of the experience. The ashram is nestled in the forest, away from the busy center, but you're close enough for the river, temples, and cafés. Weekends and days off include group excursions, and there are optional add-ons like Ayurvedic massage, yoga therapy, or extra nights. You also get one complimentary session by the Ganges — either acro yoga, pranayama, or meditation — which is a highlight for most people.
