Home › Retreats › 14-Day Ayurveda and Yoga Detox Retreat in Peaceful Kathmandu Valley, Nepal
Kathmandu · 14 days · From USD 1028
The retreat is built around a daily rhythm that pairs classical yoga and meditation with individualized Ayurvedic therapy. This isn't a generic wellness package: every treatment you receive is determined by your initial consultation with the on-site Ayurvedic doctor, who assesses your body type, or dosha, and any current health concerns. Based on that, you might receive Abhyanga, a full-body oil massage with medicated herbal oils; Shirodhara, where warm oil pours steadily over your forehead to calm the nervous system; or a more specialized therapy like Kati Vasti for back pain or Nasya for sinus issues. For deeper cleansing, the team offers Panchakarma, a set of five purification procedures that aim to flush toxins from the body and rebalance your constitution.
The days are evenly divided between treatment and practice. Mornings typically begin with Hatha or Ashtanga yoga, led by instructors like Tirtha, a Yoga Alliance-certified teacher with five years of experience. Afternoons include meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises), plus group discussions on yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, and mindfulness. You're not just a passive recipient of treatments—you'll learn why each therapy is used and how to support the process with the right food and rest, which is part of what makes this retreat educational rather than just pampering.
The setting contributes a lot to the experience. The retreat is tucked away on the outskirts of Kathmandu, about a 20-minute drive from the airport, in a quieter, forest-adjacent area that feels far removed from the city's crowds and smog (though guests from cleaner-air countries should note the air can still be hazy, especially in the dry season). There are historical sites and monasteries within walking distance, offering a chance for gentle afternoon exploration, but most people come here to turn inward. The schedule changes slightly on arrival and departure days, and optional upgrades like a later start date are available if you want to adjust your stay.
