14-Day Ayurveda Panchakarma & Yoga Therapy Training in Nepal's Himalayan Foothills

Nepal · 14 days · From USD 917

Arogya Nepal operates as a licensed lifestyle medical centre with an eight-bed Ayurvedic hospital on site. This isn't a spa offering relaxation massages; it's a clinical training environment where the same therapies used on patients are taught and demonstrated to course participants. The lead physicians hold BAMS degrees, and the residential team includes a yoga teacher with six years' experience and certification as an Ayurveda Allied Worker (AAHW).

The 14-day curriculum covers Panchakarma practical training in depth. You'll learn and experience Abhyanga (oil massage), Shirodhara (continuous warm oil on the forehead), Patra Pinda Sweda (herbal poultice), Kati Basti and Janu Basti (localised oil pools for lower back and knees), Nasya Karma (nasal administration), Netra Tarpana (eye treatment), Matra Basti (oil enema), and herbal steam therapy. Each technique is demonstrated, then practised under supervision.

Theory sessions explain the reasoning behind each treatment: how to assess a guest's constitution (Prakriti) and current imbalance (Vikriti), how to design a personalised dietary plan, and how to advise on daily, seasonal, and age-related routines. You'll observe live patient consultations and see how an Ayurvedic physician integrates pulse diagnosis with lifestyle recommendations.

The daily schedule also includes yoga sessions designed therapeutically — customised asana and pranayama for specific conditions like diabetes, hypertension, or respiratory issues. Evening activities vary: kirtan, movie nights, guided meditation. Weekends include excursions and guided jungle hikes with views across the Kathmandu Valley and, on clear days, the Himalayan peaks.

The location itself contributes to the training. At this altitude, you're breathing clean mountain air and drinking spring water. The centre sits in gardens with space to read, walk, or simply sit. The library has Ayurveda texts if you want to dig deeper between sessions. A herbal steam room is available for additional detox work.

By the end of the two weeks, you leave with a certificate, a printed training manual, procedural notes, and an Ayurvedic lifestyle guide. The centre also provides pre- and post-retreat support to help you apply what you've learned once home.
