Indonesia · 14 days · From USD 1552
This 14-day training is a full immersion into becoming a yoga teacher, but it’s structured so that even complete beginners can take it on. The daily rhythm is consistent: a 6:45 meditation and pranayama session, then a 90-minute hatha or vinyasa class. After breakfast, mornings are dedicated to teaching methodology and alignment-based asana labs, where you break down poses like warrior and triangle into their component parts, learning how to adjust students safely and effectively. Afternoons shift to philosophy (think Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the eight limbs) and functional anatomy, before a teaching practice session where you and your peers take turns leading parts of a class.
Ulu Yoga’s teaching approach is one of its real strengths. You start practicing teaching within the first few days, guiding small sections of a class, and by the end you’ll lead a full 75-minute session. It’s a practical, step-by-step process with supportive feedback, so you finish feeling like you actually know how to run a class, not just hold a pose. They also spend time on the business side—how to join Yoga Alliance, set up an online presence, and create your own retreats.
The 80 hours of online study are flexible. You can watch the video lectures before you fly out or take your time after you get home. It’s just video watching, and your progress is tracked automatically, so it’s mostly about absorbing the material at your own pace.
The shala itself is an air-conditioned, open-sided structure overlooking Bingin Beach. It’s a short walk from some of the best surfing in Bali, and the surrounding cliffs are dotted with warungs and cafes serving smoothie bowls and nasi goreng. Ulu Yoga runs the training with a team of international instructors—you might have Héloïse, who’s taught corporate classes for Google and the Four Seasons; Prashant, who started practicing at 15 in Rishikesh; or Bianca, who trained in Iyengar and specializes in yoga therapy and trauma-informed teaching. The group is usually between 10 and 20 people, which keeps the vibe personal and the feedback frequent.
