Home › Retreats › 14-Day Luxury Yoga & Wellness Escape in the Algarve, Portugal
Portugal · 14 days · From USD 3799
The retreat runs alongside Lakshmi Rising's 200-hour teacher training, which means you're living in the middle of a working yoga school rather than a resort. In practice, that translates to a rich daily program you can dip into as you please. Mornings open with meditation, breathwork and chanting as the sun comes up over the ocean, followed by a 90-minute Lakshmi Rising Vinyasa Flow class. After that, the day is yours. You can join the training's posture workshops and anatomy labs, or you can read by the infinity pool, take a nap on a Bali bed, work remotely, or drive to the beach.
What makes this different from a standard luxury retreat is the combination of high-end comfort and genuine teaching. Dr. Liz Lindh, who leads the school, has been practicing yoga for over 30 years and has trained more than 1,200 teachers across nearly 50 countries. Sessions are rooted in the vinyasa lineage of Krishnamacharya, filtered through integrative medicine and somatic education. On a retreat, you get the benefit of that depth without the requirement to study, practice-teach or sit any exams. It's learning on your own terms.
The estate itself is central to the experience. Set on three acres of gated land in the hills above Loule, it balances total seclusion with easy access—Faro airport is a 25-minute drive, and the train station is 15 minutes away. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, the infinity pool is saltwater, and the outdoor yoga studio has a view that makes you want to roll out your mat. Evenings are quiet and grounding, with the option of philosophy discussions, and dinner is served on the terrace as the light fades.
There's a strong emphasis on Ayurveda and plant-based nutrition throughout. The Gaia Gourmet team draws on yogic and Ayurvedic wisdom to build menus that are filling and vibrant without being heavy. If you're curious about the deeper layers of yoga—chakras, philosophy, breathwork, Ayurveda—there are lectures and workshops to join. If you just want to be somewhere beautiful and be looked after, that's available too. The structure is intentional, but nothing is compulsory beyond the opening ceremony, so the pace is whatever you need it to be.
