14-Day VIP Muay Thai, Yoga & Recovery Retreat in Phitsanulok, Thailand

Thailand · 14 days · From EUR 1812

A typical day starts at 08:00 with Muay Thai and Western boxing, or a CrossFit, hiking or swimming session if that is what is scheduled. Breakfast is at 09:00. From 10:30 you have free time, and the sauna and ice bath are open whenever you want them. Thai massage is at 11:30 on the days it is booked. Yoga and meditation run at 14:00, then jogging, skipping or shadow boxing at 15:30, a second Muay Thai and boxing session at 16:00, and dinner at 18:00. At 20:00 you can relax outdoors, head to the night market, or sit with a meditation. The schedule is a sample and does shift.

What separates this from a commercial fight camp is the pace and the people. Training is individually adapted, and the emphasis is on safe progression rather than intensity. The coaching team, led by Kru Jay, has worked with fighters up to professional and Olympic level, so the technical detail is there if you want it, but nobody is pushed past what they can handle. Afternoon clinching and light sparring are always optional.

Yoga is taught by Kru Manta Preedasitthichok, who has 14 years of practice and 10 years of teaching behind her. She trained in traditional Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh, India, and also holds Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) training from the Rehabilitation Prague School. Her classes blend Hatha, Vinyasa and Restorative Yin, and she works on functional movement, core stability and injury prevention — useful if you sit at a desk, are coming back from an injury, or just want to move better.

Phitsanulok itself is not a tourist town. It was the second capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom and is known as the gateway to northern Thailand, with the Nan River running through it and Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, home to a golden Buddha, in the centre. There are night markets, coffee shops and local restaurants within walking distance of the camp, and the family will help you plan afternoons if you want to go further afield.

The cultural side is not an add-on. You learn the Wai Kru / Ram Muay, the ceremonial dance performed before a bout, and on one Saturday morning you visit Wat Yai to offer food to the monks. Sunday trips have included the ruins at Sukhothai, the White Temple in Phetchabun, swimming at the local lake, waterfall visits and rafting when the season allows. Once a week the group goes to the night market together.

Accommodation is chosen at booking and ranges from a private room at the camp itself to a Thai bungalow at The Cozy Resort, a room at the Imperial Hotel with its large pool and gym, or the VIP Deluxe room at Shinnabhura Historic Boutique Hotel. All four options include a private room with en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, hot shower, refrigerator and Wi-Fi, and shuttle transport to the gym where the property is not on site.
