Home › Retreats › 15-Day 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training on Isla Mujeres
Mexico · 15 days · From USD 2135
The core of this training is daily practice. Each day starts with a 90-minute morning practice in the open-air shala—Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative styles are all covered across the two weeks, with an emphasis on flowing from posture to posture with the breath. After breakfast, the morning lab takes place poolside and dives into the anatomy of yoga, the eight limbs, and the yamas and niyamas. After lunch, the asana lab breaks down 45 traditional poses in detail, followed by an anatomy class and a group check-in circle before dinner. Evenings close with yoga Nidra.
What makes this different from other teacher trainings is the setting and the pace. The property is simple, eco-friendly, and surrounded by jungle, with a pool, garden, and open-air dining space. Students live in six studio-style apartments on the property, so there's a real sense of shared community. The schedule is full but not overwhelming—there's time for journaling, swimming in the Caribbean, and wandering to the southern point of the island. The training is designed to feel immersive, not intensive.
The instructors bring serious credentials. Lead teacher Stephania Spitzer completed her 200-hour training in Tulum and her 300-hour in India, and she's been hosting trainings and retreats for years. Stacy Dixon, an Irish teacher based on the island for a decade, leads classes with an adventurous, storytelling energy. Elizabeth Jane, an E-RYT 500 and sound healer, adds breathwork and sound elements. Between them, they cover alignment, philosophy, sequencing, meditation, and the art of holding space.
Graduates leave with more than a certificate. The curriculum emphasizes teaching from authentic experience, not memorized scripts, and includes practicum hours where you teach small groups. You'll also receive two Yoga Alliance–accredited manuals in PDF form. The location adds its own layer: Punta Sur, a sacred Mayan site associated with the goddess Ixchel, is a short walk away and many students go there for sunrise reflection. It's the kind of training that stays with you.
