15-Day Ashtanga & Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Mysore, India

India · 15 days · From USD 462

The core of this training is the daily practice and study of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, alongside Hatha yoga and a range of supporting techniques. Mornings typically begin with yogic kriyas (cleansing practices) and asana practice. The program is structured to build your understanding step by step: you'll start with the fundamentals of asana alignment and gradually move into pranayama, meditation, and teaching practice.

Unlike a purely physical retreat, this course dedicates substantial time to yoga theory and philosophy. You'll study Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the eight limbs of yoga, and the different streams of yoga, with a focus on applying these ancient teachings to modern life. There are also classes on yoga anatomy and physiology, covering the body's systems from both a medical and a yogic perspective – this is essential knowledge for any aspiring teacher.

A significant part of the training is the teaching practice. From early on, you'll observe live classes, assist the main teacher, and gradually take on your own teaching sessions with expert feedback. By the end of the course, you'll be able to demonstrate and explain asanas and pranayama confidently, and you'll have the skills to sequence a class.

What makes this training unique is its location and its teacher. Mysuru (Mysore) is a city steeped in yoga history, and Yogadarshanam is a well-established school that attracts students from around the world. There's a strong emphasis on the traditional, classical approach to yoga, but also a practical focus on helping you become a competent, confident teacher. On Sundays, you'll have a lighter schedule, with time for self-study, optional excursions to holy places, or simply resting before the next week of training.
