China · 15 days · From USD 1535
The retreat is based at the Wudang Shihe Kungfu Academy, right next to Yuzhen Palace on Wudang Mountain. For two weeks you follow a daily schedule of Tai Chi, Qigong, meditation, and breathing work, all taught by lineage-holding masters. The lead teacher, Master Zheng, is a 15th-generation inheritor of the Wudang Sanfeng lineage who entered the mountains at age nine and has spent over forty years practicing and teaching Wudang Kungfu. He's joined by Master Zi Xiu, a 16th-generation holder who has trained more than 10,000 students and competed nationally and internationally. Most participants are between 25 and 68, from all over the world, and many come solo. Training happens daily in the academy's practice spaces, with mornings focused on Qigong and Tai Chi forms and afternoons on Kungfu, meditation, and cultural sessions. Because the group is limited to 15, instructors can correct your posture and adapt the material to your level, whether you've never done Tai Chi or have studied for years. The location itself does a lot of the work: Yuzhen Palace is one of Wudang's historic Taoist temples, and the academy sits in quiet mountain forest with fresh air and clear skies. During the retreat you also take part in excursions—visits to temples, short hikes, and cultural experiences like Taoist calligraphy—that go alongside the physical practice. The schedule leaves room for rest and integration, so it doesn't feel like a boot camp. This is an authentic Wudang experience at the source, not a generic hotel yoga week. You train where these arts were born, eat simple local food, and live according to the mountain's rhythms, which is the real differentiator here. The 15-day length means you get deep into the practice and actually notice changes in your energy, focus, and body, as several past guests mention in their reviews.
