India · 15 days · From USD 5777
For 15 days and 14 nights, guests live at Savista Retreat, a restored heritage haveli surrounded by farmland, gardens, and quiet village life. A typical day starts at sunrise with meditation, pranayama (breathing exercises), chanting, and laughter yoga, all held in one of the many practice spaces: the lawns, the rooftop sundeck, or an indoor lounge. After a breakfast of organic produce from the estate’s farm, the day unfolds with your choices—an Ayurvedic massage, a visit to a local potter’s workshop, or simply time by the pool.
Cultural immersion is built into the program. You can choose three hands-on activities from a list that includes block printing with hereditary artisans, a plant-based cooking class grounded in Ayurveda, blue pottery, a handmade paper factory visit, a camel cart ride through nearby villages, a lac bangle workshop, and a visit to an elephant sanctuary. Two guided excursions take you either to Amer Fort and the Amber Town palaces, into Jaipur’s Pink City to see Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and the bazaars, or to Abhaneri’s Chand Baori, a 9th-century stepwell. These are real encounters with the region’s crafts and history, not just tourist stops.
Yoga instruction is led by Dr. Aparna, a certified US Yoga Alliance trainer with over 12 years of experience. She integrates Vipassana meditation techniques and Ayurvedic practices like oil pulling, Nasya, and Shatkarmas into the sessions. Her teaching covers traditional asanas, pre- and post-natal yoga, and chair yoga, making the practice accessible whether you’ve never done yoga or have a regular practice. The focus is on breathwork and meditation as much as postures, so you leave with tools you can use at home.
The retreat’s setting is a large part of its appeal. Twelve acres of trees, gardens, meadows, and fields surround the haveli, with clean air and chemical-free water. The property grows its own vegetables and herbs, runs a farm-to-fork kitchen, and even keeps a cow named Ambika whose fresh milk and curd appear at breakfast. Free wifi is available, but the atmosphere encourages you to unplug and cycle along the cropping paths, play pickleball or tennis, or just watch the birds.
