Malaysia · 20 days · From USD 4139
The 20-day World Yoga Teacher Training (WYTT) at Morib Beach is a deep, traditional yoga immersion that goes well beyond the physical postures you might be used to. The World Yoga Association, which has been running since 1999 and is registered with Malaysia's Ministry of Home Affairs, has designed a curriculum that covers 14 different yoga styles. You'll practice not just Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa, but also Iyengar, Sivananda, Raja, Bhakti, Jnana, Karma, Chakra, Kundalini, Tantra, and Mantra yoga. This ecumenical approach gives you a broad understanding of the tradition and helps you discover which paths resonate most with you.
A typical day starts at 5 a.m. with shatkarma cleansing, followed by pranayama, and then two back-to-back asana practices as the sun rises. Mornings are dedicated to teaching methodology, alignment, and adjustments, while afternoons cover anatomy and physiology, philosophy (reading the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika), and practical workshops on yoga therapy, chakra work, and Ayurveda. Evenings wind down with meditation, mantra chanting, and yoga nidra. In total, you'll log more than 10 hours of contact time daily, covering all the required techniques, teaching methods, anatomy, and philosophy. The schedule is demanding, but there's built-in time to rest and absorb what you've learned.
What sets this training apart is its traditional backbone. It's led by a Grandmaster, referred to simply as 'Guruji', who is described by past participants as firm but patient, inspiring, and incredibly knowledgeable. One recent graduate noted that the experience taught them 'there is so much more to yoga than just positions taught in Europe,' highlighting the authentic approach. The location—Morib Beach, a short drive from KLIA—contributes to the experience, with tropical gardens, a pool, sea views, and a relaxed, coastal atmosphere. To complete the picture, weekends include free excursions to local temples and cultural sites, giving you grounded context for the teachings.
