Nepal · 20 days · From USD 1466
The Annapurna Circuit is a classic trek that circles the Annapurna massif, and this version adds a daily yoga routine to help you manage the physical demands of hiking at altitude. The trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule, then follows the Marsyangdi River through a landscape that shifts from subtropical jungle to alpine meadows. Along the way you'll pass through traditional Gurung and Tamang villages, cross suspension bridges high above gorges, and climb steadily toward the high plateau of Manang, where you'll take a rest day to acclimatize—with an optional hike to Ice Lake at 4,600 meters. The highlight of the first half is the crossing of Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, which is one of the highest trekking passes in the world. After descending to the sacred Muktinath Temple, the route turns south through the Kali Gandaki Valley, past the apple orchards of Marpha, and down to the natural hot springs at Tatopani. The second half of the trek climbs again through rhododendron forests to Ghorepani, where you'll wake before dawn to hike up Poon Hill for a famous sunrise view over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. From there it's a long descent to Nayapul and a drive to Pokhara, where you'll spend your final night before departing.
What makes this trek different from a standard Annapurna Circuit trek is the integration of yoga throughout. Leading the yoga sessions is Priya, a certified instructor who grew up in a yogic family. She designs each day's practice to balance the physical strain of hiking—focusing on hips, hamstrings, and shoulders—with breathing exercises that help with altitude. Jay, a physical trainer and licensed trekking guide, handles the logistics and leads the walking. Together they keep the group to a manageable size, which allows them to adapt the pace to the slowest walker and answer questions about the local culture.
The accommodations are basic but comfortable—small family-run lodges with simple rooms and shared bathrooms. You'll eat what the locals eat: dal bhat (rice and lentil soup) for energy, plus noodles, momos, and plenty of hot tea. The trek includes three meals a day, and you can request vegetarian, vegan, or other diets. Each night you'll settle into a warm sleeping bag (you'll need to bring this, or rent one in Kathmandu), and most lodges have a common room with a wood stove where you can socialize with other trekkers. The final day in Pokhara is a chance to rest, take a boat on the lake, or treat yourself to a massage before the flight out of Nepal.
