200-Hour Ashtanga & Vedic Astrology Teacher Training in Rishikesh

Rishikesh · 25 days · From USD 1077

The syllabus here is built around the idea that a complete yoga teacher should be more than a fitness trainer. The asana component covers over 70 postures from the Ashtanga Primary Series — standing poses, seated folds, twists, backbends, and inversions — all taught with an emphasis on alignment and the use of props in the Iyengar tradition. Pranayama gets serious treatment too, with a full range of techniques from Nadi Shodhana to Bhastrika, plus the theory of bandhas and kumbhaka. Cleansing kriyas like Jala Neti, Kapalbhati, and Trataka are part of the morning routine.

Where this program really differs from a standard Ashtanga TTC is the daily Vedic Astrology class. For one hour each day, students work through the fundamentals of this classical Indian science: how to read a horoscope, what the nine planets and twelve houses signify, how to match charts for compatibility, and the basics of KP astrology and remedial measures. The idea, as the ashram puts it, is that the great yogis of the past were also astrologers, able to foresee challenges and apply yogic tools as remedies, and that combining these two knowledge systems makes you a more complete teacher.

The venue itself is part of the experience. Sri Yoga Ashram is a working ashram rather than a resort — students, teachers, and staff eat together, practice together, and live on the same premises. It's located in Laxman Jhula, in a quiet pocket of Rishikesh set against the foothills, with the yoga hall looking out over the Ganga. Teachers Dr. Gaurav Agrawal (astrology), Yogi Ankur (pranayama and meditation), and Pradeep Kumar (anatomy) each bring a different specialty, and the schedule is arranged so you work with all of them most weeks.

Sundays are the one break. The ashram organizes sightseeing trips to nearby places in Rishikesh so you see more of India than the inside of a practice room. Optional extras — a 6-hour Yoga Nidra module or a 7-hour Ayurveda module — can be added on for an extra 00 each, and many students take one or both since they slot into the middle of the month.
