Home › Retreats › 200-Hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training on Phuket's Beachfront
Thailand · 23 days · From USD 2288
The training is built around the Ashtanga Primary Series, taught in the traditional way, but it's paired with a very modern approach to sequencing. You'll learn the primary series in detail—the postures, the vinyasas, the breath, the drishti—and then you'll be encouraged to break out of that fixed sequence. From around day ten, you'll start a Mysore-style self-practice, where the teacher gives you one-on-one adjustments rather than leading the whole group. That's designed to help you internalise the practice, not just follow along.
Afternoons are given over to the theory and the craft of teaching. You'll study anatomy with a focus on the asanas you're actually doing, learn the philosophy behind the practice, and hear about the history of Indian yogic culture. There are workshops on sequencing—how to put together a vinyasa class that makes sense, how to pace it, how to offer modifications—and on the more practical side of the job: how to run a yoga business, price your classes, and manage your time. You'll also get a taste of other styles—Rocket, Yin, and Power/Rocket—so you leave with a sense of the breadth of modern yoga.
The teaching is hands-on from the beginning. You'll be giving adjustments, setting up props, and learning to read bodies in your very first week. That's a big part of what students say they value most: the practical, real-world focus. You're not just accumulating knowledge; you're being trained to step into a room and lead a class with confidence. You teach your own classes over the three weeks and get feedback from both peers and the instructors, who bring decades of combined experience.
The location is quiet—Panwa Beach is on a secluded cape south of Phuket Town, far from the noise of Patong. Every sixth day is a day off, so there's time to explore the island or just rest. The group quickly becomes close, and many students say the friendships they make here are as valuable as the certification.
