200-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Nepal

200-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Nepal

Kathmandu · 21 days · From USD 1206

The training divides roughly into six blocks: 75 hours on asana practice (postures across Hatha, Ashtanga and Kundalini traditions), 25 hours of meditation, 25 hours on pranayama and bandhas, 25 hours of mantra chanting and relaxation techniques, 25 hours covering philosophy, anatomy and yogic lifestyle, and 25 hours on detox practices plus teaching practice.

Mornings typically begin with chanting and pranayama, followed by a physical asana session. Afternoons cover theory — anatomy, philosophy, sequencing — while evenings return to meditation and relaxation work. Prakash leads much of the instruction himself; he studied physics before turning to yogic science, eventually completing an MSc in Yogic Science and Human Consciousness. He spent extended periods learning in ashrams and caves along the Ganges at Haridwar, and the meditation technique he now teaches, which he calls 'soul meditation', grew from that time.

The location is deliberately quiet. The yoga home sits at the entrance to Nagarjun National Park, well away from central Kathmandu's noise and traffic. The jungle surroundings and proximity to hiking trails mean participants can walk into nature within minutes. On Sundays — the rest day — many guests organise their own trips to nearby sites: Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares are all within 15 kilometres.

The course suits complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike; it starts at a foundational level and builds toward advanced work by the final week. Class sizes can reach up to 20 students depending on the season, but the family atmosphere keeps things personal. Several reviews note that the accommodation is simple and basic, but that this authenticity is part of the appeal — the focus is on learning, not luxury.

At the end of the 21 days, graduates receive a certificate recognised by both Yoga Alliance International and the Nepal Government, allowing them to teach professionally anywhere.
