Home › Retreats › 200-Hour Holistic Yoga Teacher Training Certification in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala
Guatemala · 22 days · From USD 3331
The training is built around a three-cycle structure. Each four-day cycle covers specific modules: the art of practice (morning asana, pranayama, and meditation), the art of living (philosophy and special topics like ayurveda or shamanic healing), and the art of teaching (afternoon analysis, sequencing, and hands-on assist practice). On days off—two per cycle for the 22-day format—you're free to explore Tzununa, visit neighboring lakeside villages by boat, or simply recover. The schedule has clear rest points, which keeps the intensity manageable over three weeks.
What makes Kula Collective different is its explicit integration of Mayan Cosmovision. Expect a stone temazcal sweat lodge ceremony, fire ceremonies, and nightly kirtan or music circles woven into the curriculum. The teachers also address yoga's lineage head-on, acknowledging cultural roots and respectfully incorporating local traditions. Graduates consistently mention feeling prepared not just to teach a vinyasa class, but to hold space, understand energetic adjustments, and sequence with intention.
Casa Kula itself is an eco-built retreat center in Tzununa, a small village on the lake's north shore. The property includes a large teakwood yoga deck with volcano views, the temazcal, gardens, and communal gathering areas. You'll live simply—shared or private rooms, vegetarian meals, and a strong community feel. The center is run by co-founders Coby and Ananda, and the teaching team rotates, but the four lead facilitators brought together for this training—Randi, Jiya, Jessi, and Ankati—bring decades of combined experience. Randi, an E-RYT 500 with 25+ international trainings under her belt, is particularly known for her creative sequencing and alignment expertise.
The location is remote but accessible: a 3.5-hour drive from Guatemala City airport (GUA), with group shuttles arranged before the start. The pace is immersive—expect early mornings and deep study—but the setting, with its lake breezes and lush greenery, keeps it feeling less like a grind and more like a retreat. If you're torn between a standard YTT and something more experiential, this training blends both.
