Guatemala · 21 days · From USD 3234
This 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Mystical Yoga Farm on Lake Atitlan is designed for full immersion. The days begin before sunrise with meditation on the dock as the sun comes up over the volcanoes, followed by a 90-minute asana practice in a shala that overlooks the lake and the surrounding mountains. Mornings are typically for the physical practice and meditation, while afternoons are spent in workshops on yoga philosophy, anatomy, and the art of teaching. You'll learn two sequences—Sadhana Vinyasa and Sadhana Hatha—and get hands-on practice teaching your peers starting from day one.
What sets this training apart is the integration of the Peruvian Shamanic Medicine Wheel into the curriculum. The course is divided into four cycles, each aligned with a cardinal direction, and focuses on release, understanding, growth, and empowerment. The teachings draw from Eastern traditions like the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and Vedanta, but also incorporate Mayan prophecies, Greek mythology, and modern spiritual teachers like Eckhart Tolle. You'll spend evenings in satsang—gatherings that may include kirtan chanting, meditation, or a traditional cacao or fire ceremony. There are also full-moon and new-moon ceremonies, Andean gratitude despachos, and other rituals that add a layer of depth you won't find in most standard certifications.
The instructors rotate but include seasoned teachers like Krystalyn, an ERYT-300 with life coaching certifications, and April, who has completed her 200-hour and 300-hour trainings and specializes in Ayurveda and trauma-informed yoga. The group is kept small—between 3 and 15 participants—so you get plenty of personal attention and feedback. Every fifth day is an off day, giving you time to explore the farm, swim in the lake, hike a volcano, or take a boat to a nearby village. By the end of the three weeks, you'll have completed the 200 required hours and will be ready to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200.
