200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and Wellness Retreat on Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan · 28 days · From USD 1810

The schedule is steady but structured: most days you start with meditation at 6:30 AM, then a long asana practice, then breakfast, then teaching technique, a philosophy lecture, and an afternoon block on anatomy or meditation. There is a real curriculum, not a loose selection of classes. The teaching methodology sessions actually get into how to cue, sequence, and adjust, and there are supervised practice-teaching sessions where you teach your classmates and get direct feedback. It is genuine preparation for teaching, not just a month of doing advanced poses.

Where this training is different from many is the weight it gives to the non-physical. Each week has dedicated lectures on yogic philosophy—Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the eight limbs, the Bhagavad Gita, even some Buddhism—and the anatomy modules include subtle anatomy (chakras, nadis, kundalini) as well as the musculoskeletal system. The meditation program is built in and treated as central, not bolted on at the end. By the final week you should be able to lead a meditation and a full Hatha or Vinyasa class with confidence.

The teachers are the real asset here. The senior staff—Santosh, Sunny, Surya, Paula, Raj, Konstanza—have between them decades of practice, yoga-alliance registrations at the 500-hour level and above, and specific expertise in areas like anatomy, Kundalini, and somatic movement. You get a breadth of perspectives across the month, with different lead trainers taking different modules. They share a common school culture: demanding standards, but a light touch in the room and a real interest in the students beyond the course hours.

The campus sits directly on a quiet stretch of beach on the south-east of the island, with its own shala facing the sea. The accommodation runs from shared beachfront bungalows with two double beds to a two-storey private residence with a kitchen and ocean-view balconies. Everything is air-conditioned. You are fed twice a day on teaching days—plant-based buffets that lean on Thai and Indian cooking—and Sundays are yours to rest, explore, or catch up on homework.
