200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Immersion in Rishikesh, India

This 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Akshi Yogashala is a full month of intensive study and practice. The curriculum isn't just about learning how to sequence a class – it's built on the traditional teachings of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, covering asana in detail (standing, balancing, sitting, kneeling, backward bending, forward bending, twisting, core, inverted, relaxation, and meditative postures), plus pranayama, yoga philosophy, anatomy, and the beginnings of yoga therapy. You'll learn the 'why' behind the poses, not just the 'how'.

The school's approach is to sync your learning with the natural cycles of the day. Asana practice happens on an empty stomach – before breakfast, a few hours after lunch, and again before dinner – so you experience both the theory and the physical reality of yogic timing. Evenings are given to self-study and reflection, helping you integrate what you've practiced and discussed.

Rishikesh is known as the yoga capital of the world, and that's not just a marketing line. The town is packed with ashrams, gurus, and students from across the globe, all drawn by the same pull toward the tradition that was passed down here. Akshi Yogashala's team includes Sri Vivek, who spent 15 years living in an ashram and is now pursuing a PhD in yoga; Karamjit, born into a family that built a monastery for wandering monks; and Maya-ji, who focuses on Hatha, Kriya, meditation, and yoga nidra. They bring decades of collective practice, and their teaching is rooted in what they've actually lived.

For beginners, the program works as a serious introduction – you need to have been practicing for at least five months – and for those with more experience, it's a chance to fill gaps in your understanding and refine your teaching skills. You'll leave with a course manual, a certificate upon completion, and – if you choose to register – the credentials to teach yoga anywhere in the world.
