Koh Phangan · 18 days · From USD 1303
The 200-hour teacher training at La Casa Shambala is an 18-day intensive that covers everything you need to start teaching confidently. The curriculum is structured to meet all Yoga Alliance requirements, with 75 hours of techniques and practice, 20 hours of teaching methodology, 20 hours of philosophy and ethics, 10 hours of anatomy and physiology, plus practicum and self-study. You'll learn to sequence Vinyasa flows, teach traditional Hatha with strong alignment cues, and lead Yin and restorative classes.
The teaching style here is interactive and focused on group dynamics. You'll get plenty of personal attention thanks to the small class size. Each day follows a rhythm that moves from early morning kriya and meditation to asana practice, then classroom work on philosophy and anatomy, and closes with a Yin or restorative session. There's a strong emphasis on the more traditional aspects of yoga—pranayama, kriyas, yoga nidra, and mantras—alongside the physical practice.
What sets this training apart is the location and the community. The bungalows are simple bamboo structures with shared bathrooms, set in lush gardens. The food is plant-based, and the days off (when meals aren't included) are a chance to explore the island. The main town of Thong Sala is ten minutes away, and the beach is close enough for a swim after class.
The school describes itself as a family, and that feeling comes through. The teachers are approachable and passionate—Irene, Paula, Elena, and Puneeth each bring a different background and perspective, from Ashtanga to biomechanics to philosophy. You'll leave not just with a certification but with a network of like-minded people from around the world.
