Home › Retreats › 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training & Wellness Immersion in Ubud, Bali
Indonesia · 21 days · From USD 2156
The 200-hour training is built around a mix of Hatha and vinyasa flow, with a heavy focus on alignment principles that come from the Iyengar tradition. Every posture gets unpacked in detail before you learn how to string them together into sequences. The days are long but well-paced: mornings are physical, afternoons cover philosophy and teaching, and there’s always a proper break to eat and rest. You won’t just be doing the same sun salutations every day — the curriculum includes pranayama, meditation, anatomy from both Eastern and Western perspectives, and practical teaching sessions that start within the first few days of the course.
The school’s length of experience makes a real difference. Shades of Yoga has been running trainings for over 20 years in Bali and other locations, and it’s registered with Yoga Alliance, so the certificate is internationally recognized. Classes stay small — max 16 students — which means you get hands-on attention during adjustments and plenty of chances to practice teaching with immediate feedback. The teachers include Tracey Rohan-Irwin, who founded the school and has been in fitness and health work since her early twenties, plus a team of experienced trainers like Helen, whose approach is rooted in alignment, breath, and presence.
Location is a big part of the experience. The Biyukukung Resort and Spa sits right in the heart of Ubud, surrounded by rice paddies, with the sound of birds and running water keeping everything peaceful. It’s also only a 2–5 minute walk from a huge range of plant-based restaurants, and the daily breakfast is generous enough to keep you satisfied through the morning sessions. Your days off, normally Sunday, give you time to explore the town — the art markets, museums, temples, and cafés are all close by.
The course is rigorous and expects a real commitment. If you’re looking for a light holiday with a bit of yoga, this isn’t it — it’s a full training schedule six days a week. But that’s what makes it work so well as a personal reset, and why so many people come solo and leave with a completely new direction in life. Previous travelers consistently rate the teaching, food, and accommodation highly, which shows in the strong reviews this training has built up over the years.
