Kathmandu · 22 days · From USD 863
This 200-hour teacher training is a fully immersive month in the yoga tradition. It's not a holiday — you'll be practicing and studying most of the day, and you should come ready to work. The syllabus covers asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, meditation, philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodology. Classes are taught primarily in English, with Sanskrit and Hindi used alongside.
The heart of the course is the daily practicum. From early on, you'll be leading postures and sequences, giving cues to your fellow trainees, and receiving feedback. By the end, you'll have taught full classes on your own. This hands-on approach, combined with the depth of the philosophy sessions, is what makes graduates feel genuinely ready to teach.
The teachers are the real draw here. Swami has been teaching yoga and meditation for over two decades, and is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (US). He brings a deep knowledge of Ayurveda, Reiki, Tibetan sound healing, and meditation. The other teachers, Subodh and Yogi, each have their own strengths — one is the academy's founder, the other a longtime practitioner who teaches from experience. All of them are approachable and genuinely invested in your progress.
You'll also get introduced to the wider practice of yoga beyond the mat. There are sessions on mantras, chanting, and healing sound. There's a night spent at Nagi Gumba monastery, where you can sit with the nuns and get a sense of the monastic life. You'll even plant a tree — a small act that's become a tradition here, to give back to the place that hosts you.
The accommodation is simple but comfortable — twin rooms with attached bathrooms, a cupboard, and views over the garden or towards the mountains. Meals are vegetarian or vegan, home-cooked, and generous. The rhythm of the training is intense, but the setting keeps you grounded.
