Home › Retreats › 22-Day Yoga Teacher Training in Kathmandu: Master Hatha, Ashtanga & Kundalini
Kathmandu · 22 days · From USD 862
The curriculum is laid out in five clear pillars. Techniques and training covers the physical and energetic work: asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, and the cleansing practices called satkarma. You'll learn the traditional ashtanga sequence alongside classical hatha postures, with close attention to alignment. Teaching methodology gets you into the practical side — how to demo, observe, correct, and structure a class, along with the business side of running sessions. Anatomy classes look at the body from the outside in: bones, joints, muscles, and also the subtle energy body with chakras and nadis. Philosophy pulls from the Yoga Sutras, Hatha Pradipika, and other texts, and links them to how you live and teach. Finally, practicum is where you actually stand in front of the room and teach, getting real feedback as you go.
The teaching team is one of the strengths here. Swami Yog Subodh founded the academy and has over 22 years of experience; he's joined by other long-time teachers like Suyog, Krishna, and Raj, who guests consistently mention by name in reviews. They teach five and a half days a week, with a day off for a cultural tour — a heritage sightseeing trip through Kathmandu's old city, or a hike into the surrounding hills. There's also a two-day, one-night trip to a monastery, which many guests find the most memorable part.
The location is a real mix. The academy is in a calm, green pocket on the city's edge, sitting against the jungle, yet you're still in Kathmandu with its busy streets and temples when you head out. Rooms look out over the city or the forest. Meals are vegetarian or vegan, served three times a day in a communal setting, and guests often note the homemade dal bhat and the friendliness of the kitchen staff. This is a working academy where people come to train seriously, so the atmosphere is focused, but the group is small — usually between two and twelve — so you get a lot of individual attention.
