Koh Samui · 23 days · From EUR 2300

Each weekday follows the same pattern. Wake-up is at 6:00 AM. At 6:30 there's jal neti (nasal cleansing) and pranayama, and at 7:00 a two-hour asana class alternates between Hatha and Ashtanga foundations depending on the day. Breakfast is at 9:00. Then come yoga philosophy at 10:00, alignment and adjustments at 11:00 and meditation at noon. Lunch at 1:00 PM is followed by a proper rest. Anatomy runs at 3:00, there's a tea break at 4:00, and teaching methodology and sequencing start at 4:30. At 5:30 there's an evening Vinyasa Flow class, which students begin teaching from the second week. Dinner is on your own, and the day ends with satsang and meditation at 8:30 PM.

The syllabus covers nine subjects. These are Hatha (posture, alignment, breath and stability), Vinyasa Flow (linking breath and movement, and building balanced sequences) and Ashtanga foundations (traditional sequencing, strength and discipline). Alongside them you study pranayama and shatkarma cleansing practices, meditation, the Yoga Sutras and the eight limbs, and functional anatomy for different bodies. The last two are teaching methodology (class planning, verbal cues, demonstration and modifications) and a practicum where you teach your peers and get individual feedback.

Two things set this one apart from many 200-hour courses. The first is the group size: a cap of 10 students means the teachers actually know your practice and correct you directly. The second is how early you start teaching. You build your own sequences and lead the evening Vinyasa class from week two, so by the end you've stood in front of a group many times rather than just once at the final assessment.

The teaching follows the method of the school's founder, Yogini Manisha, an E-RYT 500 teacher and YACEP with more than 16 years of teaching. The school says it has trained 23,000 students from over 80 countries. Diksha Yoga School is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School at both the 200 and 300-hour levels. Her line on what the course is aiming for is that flexible yoga teachers are easy to find, while meditative, authentic ones are much harder to find.

Bang Por is on the north coast of Koh Samui. It's known for calm water and sunsets over Koh Phangan, and it sees far fewer visitors than the island's busier east-coast beaches. Shops, cafés, pharmacies and ATMs are close by in Bang Por, Maenam and Nathon. On Sundays people head to the Big Buddha temple, walk around Fisherman's Village in Bophut, swim at the Na Muang waterfalls or simply sleep in.

If 23 days is too long, the school also runs an 11-day, 100-hour training at the same resort, from €1,400. Those batches run 5–15 and 16–26 November and 5–15 and 16–26 December 2026.
