Rishikesh · 23 days · From USD 516
The Hare Rama Institute runs this 200-hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in Tapovan, a quiet pocket of Rishikesh within walking distance of the Ganges. The curriculum is comprehensive and traditional—this is not a fluff course. You'll work through Kundalini asanas, Tantra Prana Kriya, Kundalini Shakti Bandha, mudras, yoga nidra, mantra chanting, and a full sequence of cleansing practices like Jala Neti and Kunjal Kriya. The philosophy syllabus covers the chakra system in detail, from Mooladhara to Sahasrar, plus the awakening process, nadis, pancha kosha, and the yogic view of anatomy.
What makes this training different from a generic 200-hour is the depth of the Kundalini focus. You're not just learning to sequence a class—you're learning to guide others through the subtle energy work that defines this tradition. Mornings are given to asana and pranayama, afternoons to philosophy and anatomy, and evenings to kirtan, meditation, or restorative practice. There is also a period of Mauna (silent practice) built in, designed to help you experience the subtler aspects of the practice before you teach them.
The teaching team is strong and varied. Monika Ji brings an E-RYT 500-hour credential and an M.A. in yogic science, and she leads the pranayama and meditation modules. Kanna teaches anatomy from an Ayurvedic and yogic perspective, drawing on his background in marma therapy and Kalaripayattu. Aishwarya, a nutritionist as well as a 500-hour certified teacher, covers Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Pranayam. Mandeep Bhatt Ji has been teaching mantra and meditation for over 20 years. Together, they cover both the practical and the philosophical sides of Kundalini yoga.
Rishikesh is the backdrop, and it does a lot of the work. The institute is far enough from the city centre to feel peaceful but close enough to walk to markets, cafes, and the river. The surroundings—green mountains, the holy Ganga, the Himalayan air—are part of the experience. You're here to study, yes, but you're also in one of the most significant yoga towns on earth, and the training makes full use of it.
