Rishikesh · 24 days · From USD 948
The day starts early here. A 5:00 AM wake-up call leads into a 90-minute asana practice, followed by pranayama and meditation before breakfast. Mornings are then dedicated to theory: basics of Ayurveda, Indian philosophy, and yoga science. After lunch, the afternoons bring your daily Ayurvedic treatment—one day it's Abhyanga, a warm oil massage, another it's Shirodhara, where warm oil is poured steadily over your forehead. Each treatment is chosen for your constitution, assessed in a doctor's consultation on day one.
The teaching staff is a genuine highlight. Master Hemu Masant blends over 12 years of practice into his instruction, covering asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and anatomy. Swami Vishwa Jyoti Saraswati, who taught at the Bihar School of Yoga for 22 years, brings authenticity. Guest faculty include Yogi Raj Shri Buddhi Prakash, a scholar of Indian philosophy honored by the Indian government. There's a strong emphasis on traditional practices—kriyas, bandhas, mudras, and yoga nidra—things often glossed over in shorter trainings.
What makes this different is the Ayurvedic immersion. The body check-up isn't a token; it shapes your daily treatments, your meals, and your understanding of your own constitution. You'll learn to cook an Ayurvedic meal together, and every dish is adjusted to your dosha. By the end, you'll know your own prakriti and how to use diet and routine to keep it balanced.
Location matters here. Rishikesh is full of ashrams and ghats, and the school organizes visits to a waterfall or cave, a Ganga walk, and the evening Ganga aarti. Free time can be spent exploring markets, hiring a bicycle, or trekking in the hills. It's a complete immersion—no TV, no newspapers, minimal phone use—which creates a focused, monastic atmosphere that many trainees find transformative.
