Rishikesh · 24 days · From USD 948
Yoga Ayurveda School runs a 24-day, 200-hour teacher training that weaves Ayurveda into the yoga curriculum more heavily than most. You'll study Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Nada Yoga, and Kundalini, but you'll also sit through daily Ayurveda theory classes and receive a different Ayurvedic treatment each day—Abhyanga (warm oil massage), Shirodhara (oil poured on the forehead), and Karnapurna (herbal ear cleaning). Your first day includes a doctor's consultation to determine your dosha, which then shapes both your treatments and your meals.
The schedule is full and starts early. Wake-up is at 5:00, with asana from 6 to 7, pranayama and meditation until 8:15, then breakfast. The day runs through theory, treatments, and evening activities until lights out at 21:30. There are also excursions built in: a visit to a cave or waterfall, a Ganga walk, an ashram visit, and the evening Ganga aarti ceremony. One evening each week you'll cook an Ayurvedic meal together and eat as a group.
Teaching is led by Master Hemu Masant, who has over 12 years of practice and training under Himalayan masters. Guest faculty includes Yogi Raj Shri Buddhi Prakash, a Government of India award-winning scholar of Indian philosophy, and Swami Vishwa Jyoti Saraswati, who taught at the Bihar School of Yoga in Munger for 22 years under Swami Satyananda. Arvind, a former corporate leader who left to dedicate himself to yoga and Ayurveda, also teaches. You'll graduate able to teach, having also learned yoga philosophy, anatomy, mantra, and kriyas.
The school sits in the foothills of the Himalayas in Rishikesh, near the Ganges. The accommodation is simple and clean—private rooms with a bathroom and a porch, plus A/C and wifi. It's not a luxury resort; it's an ashram-style learning environment. The food is vegetarian and sattvic, served three times daily, and designed around your Ayurvedic constitution.
