25-Day Ashtanga Yoga & Vedic Astrology Teacher Training in Rishikesh

This 25-day, 200-hour teacher training at Sri Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh combines two of India's great knowledge systems: Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Vedic Astrology. The idea is that a complete yoga teacher should understand not just the physical postures, but also the cosmic influences that shape a person's life. So alongside your asana practice, you'll learn to read and interpret horoscopes, understand the nine planets and twelve houses, and use yoga and astrology together as tools for healing and guidance.

Most days run for about seven hours of guided sessions, plus an optional hour of self-study if you choose to add Yoga Nidra or Ayurveda modules. The morning block focuses on Ashtanga Primary Series, pranayama, and cleansing techniques like Jala Neti and Trataka. After breakfast, you'll explore yoga philosophy based on the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita. The afternoon includes anatomy, teaching practice, and Hatha alignment, often using props. There's also daily mantra chanting, and every Sunday, a trip to nearby sights like waterfalls or temples.

You can also choose Kundalini Yoga instead of Ashtanga if you prefer—the school supports both paths. The teaching team includes Yogi Ankur, who leads meditation and pranayama with a reputation for helping students release deep-seated emotions, and Pradeep Kumar, an anatomy expert with graduate and master's degrees in yoga. Dr. Gaurav Agrawal, the founder, teaches the astrology component in a structured, relatable way that past students have praised even when English wasn't their first language.
