Home › Retreats › 28-Day Yoga Teacher Internship in Medellín, Colombia
Colombia · 28 days · From USD 1250
The internship runs over 28 days and 27 nights, and the structure is deliberately hands-on. From Monday to Friday, mornings are dedicated to Spanish classes and further training workshops. These workshops cover the topics that actually matter in the classroom: how to structure a class, how to give adjustments and assists, the right language to use while teaching, and how to take care of yourself as a teacher. In the evenings, you'll put it into practice, teaching real public classes in the Flying Tree studio and getting feedback from senior teachers like Andrea and Andrew.
Andrea is an E-RYT 500-hour teacher trainer who specializes in alignment-based Hatha Yoga. She has led teacher trainings in both English and Spanish across Medellín and is known for her focus on the energetic body and making yoga accessible for beginners. Andrew, the owner of Flying Tree, started teaching languages around the world before shifting his focus to yoga in 2014. He is passionate about adjustments, Thai bodywork, and mindfulness meditation, and has been guiding teacher trainings since 2016. Together, they create a learning environment that balances precision with personal encouragement.
You'll also have weekends free to explore Medellín and the surrounding region. The city is known for its transformation from a troubled past to a vibrant cultural hub. Laureles, where the studio is located, is leafy and trendy, with wide avenues and a relaxed pace. Comuna 13 is famous for its street art and escalators, La 70 is the place for salsa music and nightlife, and the Jardín Botánico offers a peaceful escape. The city's annual Feria de las Flores, with parades and music, may coincide with your stay depending on the dates you choose.
This program is not just about teaching—it's also about personal growth. You'll have time and space to reflect, both on your practice and your path as a teacher. The structure is flexible enough to allow for independent study, and the community is supportive. Reviews from past participants highlight the depth of the anatomy study, the balanced approach to philosophy and asana, and the strong foundation gained for future teaching. Many say they plan to return for the 300-hour training—a testament to the quality of the experience.
