28-Day Yoga Teacher Training and Sound Healing Retreat in the Himalayas

Rishikesh Nath Yogshala runs a 200-hour teacher training over 28 days and 27 nights. The curriculum is built around five modules: yoga teaching techniques, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology, philosophy and lifestyle, and practice. Across the month you will cover 65 asanas, five meditation techniques, three types of pranayama, shatkarma, bandhas, mudras, and mantra chanting. Each week has a clear focus, starting with alignment and anatomy, moving into vinyasa sequencing, then adjustments, and finally teaching practice with written and practical exams.

Sound healing is woven into the program alongside the multi-style yoga training, giving you exposure to how sound and vibration work in healing settings. The teaching team includes Harmindra Singh, who specialises in anatomy and physiology as well as ashtanga; Ganesh Negi, who has practised ashtanga and vinyasa for over seven years; Ajay Uniyal, who studied yoga at a Gurukul and has taught in China and Vietnam; and Swami Nityananda Giri, a Kriya yoga master with a PhD in zoology.

The school is family-run, which gives it a warm, personal feel - guests often describe the staff as a kind of Indian family. It is located on the quieter western bank of the Ganges in Tapovan, with views over the river and hills. The food is Satvik vegetarian, served three times a day, and the rooms are clean and modern with AC, Wi-Fi, and geysers.
