28-Day Yoga Therapy Teacher Training and Certification in Athens, Greece

Mornings start with a senior teacher leading a 60-minute yoga class, followed by a debriefing where you unpack what you just practiced. After breakfast, you move into theory and philosophy — studying Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the basics of Ayurveda, and how to analyze the holistic approach to balance physical and mental health. You'll work through the anatomy of thirty asanas in detail, including their pranayama components.

Afternoons are practical. You practice asanas from 13:30 to 14:30, then study their therapeutic applications until 16:00. A second senior-led yoga class runs from 16:00 to 17:00, and you'll debrief again until 18:30. This combination of guided practice and detailed study repeats daily, building a solid foundation over the four weeks.

The program specifically trains you to work with chronic conditions. You'll study the causes of disease and how to design a supportive practice for coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, hormone imbalance, sleep disorders, and burnout. You'll also learn the importance of nutrition, elements, doshas, gunas, marma points, chakras, koshas, and prana in yoga science — not as abstract concepts, but as practical tools you'll use to understand your clients.

The teaching includes mantras with their therapeutic benefits, yoga nidra, meditation, and visualization techniques. You'll learn how to structure individual sessions and how to communicate with doctors. Carmen and Dietmar have run Yoga Skyros Academy since 2005, training teachers in Hatha yoga and, more recently, this yoga therapy specialization. Dietmar's background includes Dr. Bach flower remedies and kinesiology; Carmen holds advanced Yoga Alliance certifications and has trained with masters in Hong Kong and India.
