Home › Retreats › 3-Day Ayurvedic Yoga and Forest Wellness Retreat in Kandy, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka · 3 days · From USD 344
The retreat is hosted at Nelum Nikethana, an eco-lodge set in a natural spice forest just 2.5 kilometres from Kandy town. It's close enough to dip into the city by tuk-tuk, but far enough out that the centre feels like its own little jungle. The program is structured around the day, not the clock: each morning opens with a herbal soup before a 90-minute hatha yoga session on the deck, and each afternoon includes time with the resident Ayurvedic doctor. The massage therapy is not a spa add-on but part of the daily schedule, and it's guided by what the doctor finds in your consultation. A Sri Lankan traditional cookery demonstration is included, and the host can arrange a train reservation from Colombo if you want the scenic route up to Kandy. The teaching is led by Radesh Kangathilakar, who trained in yoga in Rishikesh under Swami Rudradev and is a certified Tai Chi teacher trained in Tai Chi for healing. His sessions blend the hatha tradition with the softer, breath-led movement of chikung, which is what the sunset class draws on.
