3-Day Buddhist Monastery Yoga and Meditation Retreat in Pharping, Nepal

The retreat is based in Pharping, a village about 23 kilometers from Kathmandu that holds deep significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. It's believed that Guru Padmasambhava attained enlightenment in the Upper Asura Cave here, and the hills are considered as holy as Bodhgaya in India by Tibetan Buddhists. You'll have the chance to visit these caves and walk the same paths that pilgrims have used for centuries.

Daily life follows a gentle rhythm. Mornings start with a Neti (nasal cleansing) and tea, followed by a Hatha gentle flow class. After breakfast, there's a Dhamma Talk that explores Buddhism and yoga, helping you connect the physical practice with a broader spiritual framework. The afternoon walk through Pharping is a highlight—you'll see the Dakshin Kali Temple, monasteries, and the site of Nepal's oldest hydroelectric power station.

Your host, known simply as Yogi, has been teaching since 2010 and leads classes from a place of personal experience. His approach is down-to-earth and focuses on using yoga to move from a mindset of complaint to one of gratitude, which naturally leads to meditation. The goal isn't to master advanced poses but to find a deeper connection with yourself.

The atmosphere is quiet and intimate. You'll stay in a simple guesthouse with a garden and terrace, and the food is homemade and vegetarian.
