Spain · 3 days · From USD 270
The big draw here is the setting. Cal Pau Cruset is a real, 150-year-old wine farm, and the retreat center has kept that rustic, authentic feel. There are three private villas, one larger villa, and a 120-square-meter yoga shala. The pool sits at the edge of the garden, between fruit and palm trees, and next to it is a small wellness area with a jacuzzi and sauna. You can wander through the vineyards, sit under an almond tree, or just watch the horses.
Mornings start with a yoga practice that targets a different chakra each day—root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, or crown. The afternoon is unscheduled, which is the point. You’ll get a weekly program on arrival, and a new one comes out every Sunday, so the experience is always a little different. Evenings wrap up with a second yoga session, often a themed workshop.
The teaching is shared between two instructors who are very different. Joyce—also the host—is likely to teach, alongside Alex Nairanovski, who brings a Kundalini background and sometimes plays guitar during class or uses singing bowls for sound healing. They both emphasize making yoga feel accessible, especially for people who don’t feel like they fit the typical yoga-body mold.
You can arrive any day of the week and stay as long as you want, making it easy to fit around your own travel plans. The farm is about 15 minutes from the town of Vilafranca del Penedès, which sits in the middle of Catalonia’s Alt Penedès wine region. If you want a taste of the local wine country, it’s right there.
