30-Day Muay Thai Weight Loss & Fitness Camp in Phitsanulok, Northern Thailand

Thailand · 30 days · From EUR 1824

A normal day starts early if you want it to. There are optional sunrise runs, mountain hikes or temple visits at 5:30, including the chance to join monks for morning alms giving. The main session runs from 8:00 to 9:30. It opens with skipping, running and dynamic stretching, then moves into technique work: pads, heavy bags and partner drills. Breakfast and a protein smoothie follow, and the middle of the day is free for recovery. Most people spend it in the sauna and ice bath, getting a massage, at the pool, or sleeping.

Afternoons start with a mobility-focused yoga class (Hatha, Ashtanga or Yin) at 2:00. Training picks up again at 3:30 with sparring, clinch work, CrossFit or functional fitness. Many sessions finish with an optional 'Ab Blast', a 5–10 minute core circuit. Dinner is at 6:00. After that there's optional evening meditation or a trip out to the night markets or temples. The programme runs on a six-day training week. Sundays are for rest or the weekly excursion.

The camp has some features most Muay Thai camps don't. You'll learn the Wai Kroo / Ram Muay, the ceremonial dance fighters perform before a bout to honour their teacher. Traditional sword training is on the timetable too. The weekly 'Red Buddha Run' takes you up red stone steps and along a mountain trail to a Chinese temple, then to an old pagoda dedicated to King Naresuan the Great. Phitsanulok is his birthplace, and the camp leans into that history.

The coaching is led by Kru Jay, with Kru Chan also on the team. They teach both Muay Thai and Western boxing, from a first-ever class up to fight preparation. If you want to compete, they can set you up with a fight while you're there. Ploy and the rest of the family handle the day-to-day running of the camp. Guests regularly say the place feels more like a household than a business.

Phitsanulok is a working Thai city about an hour's flight north of Bangkok. It has a river through the middle, farmland and forest on the edges, and waterfalls and temples within reach. There are good local restaurants, coffee shops and markets, but not much of a party scene. That makes it easier to stick to the training and eating plan for a full 30 days.

The camp sits in a suburb of the city, about 15 minutes from Phitsanulok Airport (PHS). They'll pick you up for free from the airport, train station or bus terminal.
