Home › Retreats › 30-Hour Sound Healing Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Rishikesh
Rishikesh · 6 days · From USD 450
The training runs over five nights and six days, with 30 hours of instruction split across Levels 1 and 2. Level 1 covers the foundations: how singing bowls are made and chosen, how to hold and strike them, and the basics of working with bells and other instruments. Level 2 moves into applied work — chakra work, aura cleansing, mantra therapy, and using sound for physical and mental healing. The course blends Tibetan and Himalayan sound traditions with insights from modern psychology, so the older methods sit alongside a contemporary framework rather than being presented as folklore.
Most of the time is practical. You spend hands-on sessions with bowls, bells and other instruments building confidence through direct experience, not theory alone. Guided sound practices and mantra therapy are woven through the week, and towards the end you learn how to structure and lead a professional healing session and a group sound bath — the part most people come for, because it is what turns a personal interest into something you can offer clients or a community.
What separates this from a general sound bath weekend is the teacher training structure: two progressive levels, 30 hours of instruction, and an explicit focus on running sessions yourself. It is also unusually accessible — the academy states no prior experience is required, so a complete beginner and a working yoga teacher can be in the same room.
The location is part of the course. The academy sits in a quiet village in the lush green Himalayan foothills, roughly a ten-minute walk from Rishikesh, reached by a scenic drive into the mountains. There are no cars and no traffic noise, which matters when the work is about deep listening and stillness. Rishikesh itself is one of India's best-known spiritual centres, on the Ganges in Uttarakhand.
The facilitator team for each intake is confirmed before your stay rather than named in advance on the listing. The academy running the training is Damini Sargam International Academy, based in India, which also runs longer sound healing programmes in Rishikesh — 9-day 50-hour, 15-day 100-hour, and 21-day and 30-day multi-modality trainings — so this six-day course is the shortest entry point into their sound healing track.
