India · 30 days · From USD 1121
This is a comprehensive month-long program for qualified yoga teachers. The curriculum is built around equal parts practice, anatomy, and philosophy. Mornings are dedicated to the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa practice, while post-lunch sessions cover yoga philosophy and applied anatomy for yoga teachers. There's structured teaching practice built in, so you learn how to lead a class and how to give safe hands-on adjustments.
The course focuses heavily on the Ashtanga primary series, and advanced students will be introduced to the intermediate series. Each asana is taught with its vinyasa, drishti, and bandhas. Teachers break down alignments in detail, and practice is adapted to each individual body rather than forcing anyone into a pose. This approach comes through in guest reviews, with people highlighting how safe and supported they felt in the room.
Philosophy is not an add-on here. The school treats the Yoga Sutras and Vedanta as core subjects, equal to physical practice. You'll study the first two chapters of the Yoga Sutras closely, look at the Mandukya Upanishad, and discuss the Bhagavad Gita. Anatomy classes go deep on the skeleton, joints, and muscles used in yoga, with the practical goal of teaching you to sequence safely and understand how bodies move.
Teaching practice happens throughout the month. You'll get to lead classes, observe others, and receive detailed feedback. These practicum sessions happen within the safety of the training group, so you gain real confidence before you graduate. By the end, you'll hold an internationally recognised 300-hour certification that satisfies Yoga Alliance requirements, which is valuable for insurance and for teaching anywhere in the world.
Om Yoga Shala has been running teacher trainings for over 15 years, with locations in Jaipur, Rishikesh, and now Agonda in Goa. The teaching team is led by Sanjeev Dutta, an engineer turned yogi with a 17-year practice. The venue sits on a hill in South Goa, minutes from the beach, and the atmosphere is close to nature and family-friendly rather than polished and corporate.
