India · 29 days · From USD 2690
The 300-hour curriculum covers 270 contact hours plus 30 hours of self-study and practicum assignments. It does not follow a single fixed sequence. Instead, you learn how to think through sequencing yourself — understanding functional anatomy, energetic principles, and therapeutic frameworks well enough to design classes for real people with real bodies and real limitations.
The course splits its focus between several areas. On the asana side, you work with Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga through a therapeutic lens, refining alignment, observation, and hands-on assists. You also spend significant time on pranayama, meditation, kriya, bandha, and chanting. The anatomy curriculum covers musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems, injury prevention, safe modifications, and subtle anatomy including chakras and pranas.
Ayurveda runs through the whole training. Dr. Vijay Nambiar, who has led the on-site Ayurvedic clinic at Bhakti Kutir for 20 years, teaches body constitution analysis, doshas, seasonal routines, and therapeutic protocols. You learn to apply Ayurvedic principles to asana sequencing, pranayama selection, and lifestyle guidance for private clients.
The course also covers trauma-informed teaching, yoga for grief and chronic illness, and the business side of running a yoga practice — building a private clientele, designing workshops, marketing, and continuing education. You teach supervised classes throughout the month, receiving peer feedback and detailed notes from Olivier.
Philosophy study includes the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Bhagavad Gita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Weekly evening programmes rotate through kirtan, cacao ceremonies, fire ceremonies, ecstatic dance, and silent nature walks.
The training wraps up with both practical and theoretical examinations. Upon completion, you can register with Yoga Alliance and related bodies. The course does not certify you as a yoga therapist, but it gives you a working foundation in therapeutic principles for both group classes and one-on-one sessions.
