Nepal · 30 days · From USD 2069
The 300-hour training at Yoga Ayurveda School Nepal is a full-time, residential course that runs for 30 days in Pokhara. It's designed for certified 200-hour teachers who want to move beyond the basics and study the traditional roots of yoga in more depth. The curriculum covers advanced asana practice, pranayama, mudras, bandhas, meditation, shatkarma, mantra, and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, alongside a solid grounding in Ayurveda—doshas, diet, herbal remedies, and lifestyle balance.
Instruction is split between several teachers. Master Hemu Masant leads much of the training, bringing over 12 years of practice and a deep knowledge of the eight limbs of yoga, which students say he explains with unusual clarity and warmth. Swami Vishwa Jyoti Saraswati, who studied under Swami Satyananda at the Bihar School of Yoga and taught there for 22 years, adds a rare level of traditional authority, especially in asana, pranayama, and Yoga Nidra. Also on the team is a teacher named Himanshu.
The daily schedule is demanding. Mornings begin early with meditation and a long asana practice. Days move through philosophy lectures, anatomy, Ayurveda theory and practical sessions, and teaching methodology workshops where you'll learn sequencing, adjustments, and how to lead a class. Evenings often feature kirtan, sound healing, or time for self-study. There's also a real emphasis on Ayurvedic consultation and body analysis, so you'll get practical experience applying the principles to yourself and others.
The location is central to the experience. Pokhara is Nepal's second city, but the school sits in a peaceful, green area with views towards the Annapurna range. The property includes a yoga shala with panoramic views, a garden, and a sauna, and the school arranges weekend excursions and nature hikes with local guides. You'll leave with a Yoga Alliance-recognized certification at the 300-hour level, plus a much deeper sense of how the classical practices fit together.
