Home › Retreats › 300 Hour Yoga Therapy Teacher Training on Spain's Mediterranean Coast
Valencia · 29 days · From USD 2200
This is a serious professional training, not a retreat in the relaxing sense. The 300-hour program covers the full arc of yoga therapy — from diagnostic methods to specific treatments for different body systems. The syllabus is structured in five parts: detailed asana practice including meditation and sequencing; evaluation methods like interviewing, observation, and back palpation; treatment methods spanning breathwork, mantras, and hands-on Shiatsu techniques; theory covering the philosophy and psychology of yoga; and practical application to illnesses affecting the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, nervous, hormonal, and immune systems.
The days are long but structured with breaks. A typical day starts at 08:30 with meditation and pranayama, moves into asana at 09:00, and then theory from 11:15. After lunch, afternoons focus on assessment tools and hands-on work. The final session from 17:00 is yogic healing tools and practice. Sundays off aren't mentioned, so plan for a full four weeks of intensive study.
The location helps. Vinalux Resort sits in the centre of Vinaros, a few minutes' walk from the beach and close to restaurants, bars, and supermarkets. The hotel has a yoga shala, fitness room, and sauna. When you need a break from the books, the Mediterranean coastline is right there.
The lead instructor is Gerry Rixen, a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance International who has been practising for over 30 years. He trained in Iyengar yoga in London and has professional experience in Shiatsu and Chinese medicine. He is the founder of SYM-Ltd and has taught across Spain, France, Greece, Italy, and the UK. He also holds a 4th Dan in Shorinji Kempo. Students in past courses have described the experience as intense but rewarding, with the small group creating a strong learning community.
