Home › Retreats › 4-Day Ashtanga Yoga Retreat in Medieval Tuscany, Italy
Tuscany · 4 days · From USD 490
The retreat revolves around daily Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga sessions in a private, centuries-old chapel. The chapel is decorated with original frescoes, and the silence and history of the space add a profound dimension to the practice. Alice teaches in a way that is accessible to all levels, focusing on breath and alignment, so even if you're new to Ashtanga, you'll be able to keep up and learn a lot. After the morning session, you'll have a traditional Italian breakfast at the villa. Two communal lunches are included, served at local trattorias, where you'll taste authentic Tuscan dishes like Ribollita or Pappa al Pomodoro, made with zero-mile ingredients. Dinners are not included, but Alice will guide you to the best local spots, where you can eat farm-to-table food or enjoy a glass of Sangiovese in a cozy wine bar. Afternoons are free for you to explore the village, hike in the surrounding hills, read, or simply rest. If you want to deepen your practice, you can opt for an additional Yin Yoga class, a Pranayama session, or a trip to the thermal waters of Casciana Terme for a mud treatment or massage. The retreat is designed to be flexible—there's no pressure to do anything. Guests have praised Alice for her caring and supportive teaching style, noting that even complete beginners can build confidence in Ashtanga yoga. The village of Lajatico is a true medieval gem, known for its Teatro del Silenzio (Theater of Silence), and is close to other Tuscan highlights like Volterra and San Gimignano. It's a place where you can truly disconnect from the noise of modern life and reconnect with what matters.
