4-Day Balinese Yoga & Cultural Immersion in Tabanan, Bali

This four-day retreat is less about a packed schedule and more about settling into a place. You arrive on day one, get a welcome drink and a full-body massage, then ease into the rhythm of the villa. Each morning starts with a gentle yoga class led by Teddi, who is known for keeping things light and funny—he came to yoga after a stressful job in finance, so he understands what it's like to arrive tense.

After breakfast, the days open up. Some mornings you'll trek through the rice fields that surround the property, or join a workshop on making traditional coconut oil. In the afternoon there might be a Balinese cultural activity—learning to make Hindu offerings, listening to traditional music—or a trip to a local waterfall for purification. None of it is compulsory. If you'd rather read a book by the river, that's genuinely fine.

The retreat is run by Indrayoga Retreats, a family business embedded in the local community. Part of the proceeds go to supporting school children in the village, and they ask guests to respect local customs—no bikinis when passing temples, no public displays of affection. It's a real village experience, not a resort bubble, which is exactly what many guests say they loved most.

Evenings are for family-style dinners, often with a cooking class where you prepare your own Balinese meal. The food is vegetarian, vegan, or regular, all made with local organic produce. By the end you'll have learned a bit about Balinese Hinduism, tried your hand at offerings, walked the rice terraces, and maybe gone home with Teddi's joke book.
