Koh Phangan · 4 days · From USD 282
The retreat week at Ananda follows a reliable daily rhythm. Mornings start with a Mysore/Ashtanga session (Monday to Friday), followed by a meditation or pranayama class. Then there's a Vinyasa Flow or Ashtanga Play class at 9:30, and a Yoga Basics session at 9:45 for those who want to work on the fundamentals. Afternoons offer a mixed-level Vinyasa at 3 PM and a Yin/Restorative class at 4:30 PM, which is a good way to wind down. Twice a week, at 6 PM, there's a Sunset Power Flow. Sundays run a slightly different schedule with a Vinyasa Inner Flow at 10:30 AM instead.
The center is right across the road from Hin Kong beach, a quieter stretch of Koh Phangan's west coast known for its sunsets. The beachfront restaurant serves buffet meals with views over the Gulf of Thailand. You get a Thai or oil massage for every night of your stay, and the saltwater pool and herbal steam sauna are there to use whenever you're not in class.
The teaching here is the main draw. Dr. Valerie Jeremijenko has been teaching since 1991 and trained over 300 200-hour teachers. She brings a precise, alignment-focused style to the classes, with clear instruction and hands-on adjustments. The group sizes are small, capped at 16, so you get personal attention.
It's a simple, no-frills place. Guests have noted the facilities are a bit dated, with thin sheets and weak water pressure in some rooms. But they also consistently praise the teaching, the food, the beachside location, and the value. This is a retreat for people who want to focus on their practice and reset, not one for those expecting a glossy wellness resort.
